Arizona swimming and diving coach Ben Loorz has added to his staff with the hire of Caitlin DeNise as an assistant swim coach.
DeNise joins Arizona after five seasons at Lewis & Clark College (Oregon), where she served as the head coach for the past three seasons. At Lewis & Clark, DeNise coached
31 athletes to all-conference honors.
“I look forward to joining Arizona Swimming and Diving, a program with a championship tradition and momentum building around it,” DeNise said. “I would like to thank Coach Loorz for trusting me with this opportunity. I am excited to work together with this incredible group of student-athletes and coaches to bring championships to Tucson.”
DeNise swam collegiately at Cal State East Bay, where Loorz was head coach for six seasons. DeNise holds the program record in the 100 butterfly.
“Coach DeNise is a veteran coach with a great breadth and depth of experience,” Loorz said. “From the college to club level, assistant coach to head coach, she brings a great base of knowledge and a proven track record of treating athletes well.”
DeNise joins a coaching staff that includes for Arizona All-American Amanda Beard, as well as Dwight Dumais, Pete Richardson, Jay Holmes and Carmen Hernandez.
Beach volleyball
Arizona beach volleyball coach Steve Walker is turning to a recent SandCat standout as the team’s next assistant coach.
Jamie Streit will serve as an assistant after finishing her Arizona career this past spring. Streit recorded 16 wins for Arizona in 2026. She played two seasons at Arizona after transferring in from Idaho State, where she played indoor volleyball.
“I am incredibly excited to bring Jamie on as a member of our coaching staff to begin her career,” Walker said. “She brings great energy, a strong work ethic, and a passion for developing student-athletes. As a young talented coach, she will make an immediate impact on our program and I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish in the future.”
Streit played four years of indoor volleyball at Idaho State before transitioning to beach volleyball. She was a four-time member of the Big Sky Fall Academic Team.
Streit replaces outgoing assistant Austin Hosto. The coaching staff also includes Emilia Guerra-Acuna.
Track and field
Arizona track and field has named Jeff Kinder as an assistant coach, marking another example of a recent athlete moving over to coaching. Kinder won the 2026 Big 12 title in javelin and qualified for the NCAA West First Round.
Kinder attended Oregon before transferring to Arizona. With the Ducks he finished runner-up in the decathlon at the 2022 Pac-12 Championships. Kinder comes from a track and field family, as his father, Gary, competed for the U.S. at the 1988 Olympics.
“Throughout this process, it became clear that Coach Jett possesses a true passion and natural coaching instinct, and that he is the best choice to lead our multis and horizontal jumps group in this next chapter,” Arizona coach Andrew Dubs said. “I could not be more excited for our student-athletes to get to work with Coach Jett.”
Kinder graduated this spring with a master’s degree in Real Estate Development.
