At a show named for her (More Moné More Problems) in Poland last Saturday (March 28), Mercedes Moné lost the Prime Time Wrestling Women’s title to Diana Strong. It ended a reign that started last July when she defeated Strong at another PTW show in Poland.

As has been the case at most of the stops along Mercedes’ “Moné Madness Tour” across Europe, fans have been very happy — and grateful — for the AEW star’s visits to their local independent promotions to drop the belts she was collecting last year.
The increasingly humbled CEO returned to North America this week, and last night (March 31) in Canada for WPW’s Night at the Museum. Mercedes was defending the Winnipeg-based promotion’s Women’s title against the person she beat for the championship last year (sound familiar?), Jody Threat. And at a sold out show, Threat followed Strong’s lead and reclaimed her prize.
Which means that the once-Ultimo Moné now only hold the APAC (Malaysia) Women’s belt… and the 2025 Owen Hart Tournament belt, which isn’t a title in the sense the other 12 championships she held at one point last year are, as it’s not defended aside from in the following year’s tourney. Mercedes claimed the Owen belt in her count as a heel — but as audiences continue to embrace her, it’ll be interesting to see if she continues to. After dropping the WPW championship, she wasn’t feeling as gracious as she had been in Europe…
Will the sickos welcome their CEO’s return (Moné took time off from the promotion after dropping its TBS title to Willow Nightingale at New Year’s Smash)? How will Mercedes play it when she returns? Odds are we won’t have to wait long to find out, as Dynamite is in Winnipeg tonight. Mercedes hasn’t been shy about April 1 being a big day, either:
The big prize heel Moné couldn’t capture was the AEW Women’s World title. Will she be able to claim that now, with Timeless Toni Storm sidelined and the villainous Thekla as champ? And will she be humbled without her many belts, or the same egomaniac who left the promotion three months ago?
