Gotham FC announced today that the club and midfielder Rose Lavelle have agreed to a contract extension through the 2029 NWSL season. Lavelle’s previous contract with Gotham was set to expire at the end of the 2026 season.
“I’m incredibly happy to extend my time with Gotham FC,” said Lavelle. “From the moment I arrived, this club has challenged me to keep growing and has given me the opportunity to compete for championships alongside a great group of players and staff. I’m really proud of what we’ve
accomplished together, but I feel like there is still so much ahead of us. I’m excited to continue building something special here.”
Lavelle signs an extension with the club after scoring the game-winning goal in the 2025 NWSL Championship, earning herself Championship MVP honors. She was subsequently named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and is the only 2026 Ballon d’Or nominee from the United States.

Since joining Gotham ahead of the 2024 season, Lavelle has made 69 appearances for her team across all competitions, scoring 18 goals. Lavelle has also experienced success at the international level; in her 122 appearances for the USWNT, she has scored 29 goals and assisted 29 more. This season, Lavelle has appeared in 22 of 26 matches for her club.
Gotham FC next plays Angel City at home on Sunday, October 4th at 1 PM ET, broadcast nationally on ABC.
