After that incredible beat down of Texas Tech last night all Purdue fans are pretty much riding high. Sorry, to bring you down with a post about football during a football bye week. But, hey, at least
we are trying to find the positives right? This is a look at which position should be the priority for Purdue football in the offseason. Take some solace in the fact that there’s also a basketball question. This week, since we are a few games in, I wanted to know who the other contenders for the Big Ten title were.
We will start with football and then finish with basketball. I want to make sure that you read the whole article after all. So, which position should be the focus of the coaching staff?
It’s no surprise that the plurality of voters want Purdue to bring in a QB. We’ve seen how much the QB position can mean to a team and this season we’ve seen how a QB can cost games with bad decision making and poor throws. It’s unfortunate that Ryan Browne doesn’t seem to be the answer at QB long term and so you all think the focus should be on the QB and then the offensive line. The game is won in the trenches after all.
Next, I wanted to take Purdue out of the equation to see who you all thought would be the biggest threat to the Big Ten.
Tom Izzo continues to get respect with 43% picking the Spartans as the biggest threat to a conference title. Michigan was shortly thereafter with 31% and Illinois with 25%. Those three seem to be the consensus threats to the Boilermakers. Last night Purdue put on a clinic at a “neutral” site. If they play like that this season, I’m not sure who can beat them.
