After Team USA posted a dominant 15-5 win over Team Brazil last night, they are back in action tonight with their second game of pool play. Their second opponent will be Team Great Britain, the same team that the Brewers faced in an exhibition game earlier this week. Great Britain lost to Mexico yesterday and is 0-1 in pool play.
In their first game last night, Brice Turang was one of the leaders on Team USA’s offense. He went 3-for-6 at the plate with two doubles and four RBI. As a team, they had
ten hits and seventeen walks. Most of the runs came in a seven-run ninth inning, but Team USA took the lead in the top of the first and never gave it up.
Despite that strong performance in the first game, Turang will be on the bench tonight as Ernie Clement gets the start at second base. Gunnar Henderson, Will Smith, and Pete Crow-Armstrong are also getting starts today after they were on the bench in the first game. Tarik Skubal starts for Team USA, and this will be his only appearance in the WBC this year.
Two members of the Brewers’ organization are on Team Great Britain. Both are pitchers: Miles Langhorne and Jack Seppings. Tyler Viza starts for Great Britain, and their lineup is led by Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr.
In other play from Pool B, Team Italy won their first game earlier today against Team Brazil, 8-0. Team Mexico has the day off.
Here are the full lineups for tonight’s game. Team USA will be the home team and Team Great Britain will be the road team. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. CT on FOX.
