Barcelona president Joan Laporta has shared a health update on social media after requiring hospital treatment.
The 64-year-old has revealed he suffered from an arrhythmia – an irregular heartbeat – which has now been resolved after time at the Hospital de Barcelona.
Here’s Laporta’s message in full which he posted on Instagram.
“Everything went well!!! They reversed my arrhythmia!!! My heart is beating rhythmically again!!!! I am very grateful to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff
at the Hospital de Barcelona, led by Dr. Jordi Morillas. They did an excellent job.
“In addition to their wisdom and vast knowledge, their human touch was kind, understanding, patient, and caring, dignifying medicine and the Hippocratic Oath. This is further proof that in Barcelona and Catalonia we also do excellent work of the highest quality. And I am very proud, especially of the Barça medical services, headed by Dr. Xavier Corbella, and of my Chief of Staff, Manana Giorgadze, who coordinated everything very efficiently.
“My thanks also go to Dr. Valentí Fuster and his entire team at Mount Sinai for their sound advice, which gave me peace of mind, and to Dr. Brugada for recommending the procedure to reverse the arrhythmia.
“Finally, I want to thank everyone for their support and encouragement, my children, siblings, family, and friends. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of my heart.”
Laporta will not now travel to St George’s Park in England for Barcelona’s pre-season tour, with Rafa Yuste and Deco set to attend, per Mundo Deportivo.
