Celtics center Neemias Queta was ejected from Wednesday’s EuroBasket Group Play game against Estonia after picking up his second technical foul.
Queta had just completed a tough finish around the basket when he seemingly taunted his Estonian opponents, yelling, ‘and-one.’
At the time of Queta’s ejection, Portugal and Estonia were tied at 38 midway through the third quarter. Queta had a team-high 15 points (5-8 FG, 5-10 FT), 3 rebounds,
1 block, and 1 steal.
Portugal was 1-3 heading into Wednesday’s game, having beaten the Czech Republic and subsequently dropping games to Serbia, Turkey, and Latvia. Queta averaged 15 points on 60% shooting in the first four games of the tournament.
Both teams entered the afternoon with a 1-3 record in Group Play, so the winner of Wednesday’s game will advance to the knockout round, which 16 of the 24 EuroBasket teams advance to.
