Spain successfully booked a spot in the World Cup 2026 semi-finals with a thrilling win over Belgium in the quarter-finals in Los Angeles, but the performance of Barcelona midfielder Pedri was once again a cause for concern.
Pedri’s inconsistent displays throughout the tournament led to his benching against Belgium, with Fabián Ruiz taking his place in the lineup and scoring the opening goal of the game.
The Wizard did come on at the hour mark but was nowhere near his best, and his presence in the starting
XI for Tuesday’s gigantic semi-final against France is certainly in question.
Pedri’s World Cup performance comes after a subpar (by his very high standards) end to his club season, which had a couple of injury absences that caused him to lose rhythm and not be able to replicate the extraordinary form shown for the majority of the last two years for club and country.
So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is:
Should Barcelona be concerned about Pedri’s struggles at the World Cup?
