We do this just about every single year with Notre Dame Football. The spring practice season gives us a chance to wipe away the last bits of the previous season, and we all start looking forward to the fall and a clean slate. We also do something that has long been known as the “Junior Jabbie Award,” although I actually despise that term. Still — we all add a little bit more hype to a player or two each spring than is ever realized during the season.
We do this to ourselves.
The program could be slightly
blamed for the hype, but generally speaking, we identify the players and groups that WE want to talk more about and we focus on the good vibes. It makes sense — why ruin spring with. bad vibe. The program is just doing their thing. Spring football is for them and for the ENTIRE process. Taking too much of what is seen or said from spring by media and fans is the wrong way to go about it — but we do it anyways.
So with that in mind… what spring storyline will be null and void this fall? Need some help with which ones we have? Here are a few examples of this year’s big spring storylines:
- The running back situation with Aneyas Williams and/or Nolan James.
- Will Black as a dominant LT.
- The OL as a group with faces in new places.
- Christian Gray at the nickel.
- The defensive line depth.
- Cam Williams becoming a real factor at WR.
- The TE position will be fine.
There are likely a lot more possibilities, but I think you get the idea. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Which storyline is blinking red lights for you?
