While the injury bug is unfortunately sweeping through the NBA early this season, the Orlando Magic have received some positive news in the medical diagnosis of starting guard Jalen Suggs after he suffered a scary non-contact knee injury on Sunday.
Despite the scary scene, the Magic announced Monday that Suggs was diagnosed with a mild right knee bone bruise, and he’ll be re-evaluated in two weeks. The report also noted Suggs avoided any other major structural damage.
Late in the fourth quarter of
Orlando’s 111-102 win against New York, Suggs went down while going up for a breakaway layup. He then writhed around on the floor in pain, clutching his right knee. So, while it’s unideal that Suggs will have to miss time, considering the initial optics, this diagnosis seems like the best-case outcome.
Suggs will be joining Magic star Paolo Banchero on the inactive list over the next few weeks. Banchero suffered a low-grade high ankle sprain during the team’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, and the star is likely to miss 4-6 weeks.
