The Atlanta Falcons’ season is over. Yes, there are four more games to play, but with their loss to the Seahawks last week, the Falcons drove the final nail in another losing season and will enter an off-season with a raft of changes and a whirlwind of questions. One thing that’s not up for debate, however: Atlanta could derail Tampa Bay’s season with a win tonight — and they sit as 4.5-point underdogs to do so, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
The Bucs did themselves no favors by falling to the 2-10 Saints
at home last Sunday, and now find themselves with just a one-game advantage over the Panthers with four to play. Should the Falcons top Tampa tonight and the Panthers take care of business against the Saints this weekend, Carolina will find itself in the driver’s seat in the NFC South.
With the Falcons’ season already collecting flies, it’s the little things that keep you watching.
Quarterback Kirk Cousins is 3- all-time against the Buccaneers, last facing them on 10/27/24 for the Kirktober Coming Out Party. Cousins was nails in that win, completing 23 of 29 passes for 276 yards and four touchdowns.
He will have an Island of Misfit Toys as a wide receiving corps in tonight’s affair, but stranger things have happened, right?
Tampa signal-caller Baker Mayfield has come crashing down to earth after his injury, and his 14/30, 122-yard performance against the similarly dreadful Saints should not inspire any confidence against a stout Atlanta pass rush. He willed the Bucs to a come-from-behind win over the Falcons in Week 1, but these are two completely different teams since that ill-fated afternoon.
One team is worse, and the other is … worser.
Weird things can happen on any given Thursday, and with the Falcons as 4.5-point road underdogs in a dead season, Atlanta could fire the cannons into Tampa Bay’s season at Raymond James Stadium.
