The SEC Coach of the Year, Player of the Year, and Freshman of the Year have beaten every single SEC team at least once the past 2 seasons except for South Carolina and Ole Miss, who we are hoping to vanquish for the first time since 2019. The Rebels have had our number for years, even when we’ve been the better team, like earlier this season when they beat us by 8 in a game that was only close briefly in the fourth. Winning a championship, something this team is capable of doing, requires overcoming
your demons. For us, that means finally getting out from under Ole Miss.
Looking at the box score, we were not playing our best game in Birmingham (the game was relocated due to weather), making only 4 of our 16 3-point attempts and getting out-rebounded 35-27. They even out-stole us 11-6, taking away a usual strength of our game. If we are more ourselves in this go-‘round, we should be clear to advance to the next round where we’ll play the winner of 11Alabama-3Texas for, effectively, a 1-seed. Lose, and we should be locked into a 2-seed.
