New York Post| Dan Martin: As the Yankees chased down a Wild Card spot and went through their fruitless postseason run, Jasson Domínguez found himself the fourth, fifth or sixth option for Aaron Boone,
getting just one at-bat across two series. That at-bat did lead to a 112 mph double, but it was clear the Yankees did not have confidence in the rookie. Heading into 2026, the club is hoping Domínguez gets some reps in Dominican Winter Ball, but at a certain point the former top prospect needs to show what kind of MLB player he will be. For all of the Martian’s inexperience, he’s arbitration eligible a year from now, and as we’ve seen with Anthony Volpe, red flags can haunt a player’s early years.
New York Daily News | Gary Phillips: Veteran bullpen coach Mike Harkey and infield/first base coach Travis Chapman will not be with the club in 2026, and GM Brian Cashman confirmed those personnel decisions came from him directly. It’s the latest mini-shakeup after a disappointing postseason, which we’ve seen more than once in the “Baby Bomber” era, but no change in personnel seems to be quite enough to get the club over the hump.
The Athletic | Melissa Lockard ($): By now you likely know that one-time top Yankee prospect Jesús Montero died over the weekend, after complications from a motorcycle collision in his native Venezuela. Andrew wrote up the news for us yesterday as well. Montero was just 35 years old. Montero spent a year with the Yankees at the major league level, and four with the Seattle Mariners. Our hearts go out to his loved ones.
