Things are looking really good for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are coming off a dominant 23-9 win over the Cleveland Browns to get to 4-1 on the season, and they are the only team in the AFC North with a record over .500.
In addition to that, they’ve kept Aaron Rodgers clean. The Steelers didn’t allow a sack against the Browns, and Myles Garrett was largely a non-factor in the game. Rodgers was asked about the performance of his left tackle Broderick Jones in containing No. 95.
“I think he took –
hopefully he wasn’t reading [any negative comments] – but I feel like there was… some negative thoughts out there about how he was playing,” Rodgers said. “I’ve got a lot of confidence in him. I really enjoy his energy. Sometimes, we kick him in the ass a little bit in practice to get going, but I like his positivity. He’s always the first one to come celebrate with me on the field. I appreciate that. And I appreciate him rising to the challenge this week…”
This is the second time this season the Steelers’ offensive line has blanked the opponent when it comes to sacks, doing so the first time in Week 3 against the New England Patriots. Blanking one of the league’s top defenses is a huge feather in their cap.
Since allowing four sacks in Week 1, the Steelers have allowed just five in the four ensuing games.
