Barcelona reportedly willing to offer Robert Lewandowski
a new one-year contract at the club if he is willing to take a pay cut.According to ESPN, the Catalan giants are thinking about keeping Lewandowski and “are now studying different options” as they plan for next season.
Manager Hansi Flick is said to be happy with 37-year-old Lewandowski, who has enjoyed a reduced role at Barcelona this season, but has still scored 12 goals in 27 games for the club.
Lewandowski is one of Barca’s highest-paid players
and if he does take a pay-cut it would free up some space on the wage bill and potentially help the club make new signings this summer.
There’s been speculation that Barcelona want a defender, a left winger and a starting striker in the summer, if finances allow, while the club will also have to make a decision on Marcus Rashford.
The Manchester United loanee has been enjoying life with Flick’s side this season, and Barca do have a purchase option, but it’s not clear yet if they will make the transfer permanent.
Meanwhile, Lewandowski has said little about his future so far. It’s been reported he has already turned down offers from Saudi clubs and will speak to Barca shortly about next steps.
