After a much-needed four-day break, the Golden State Warriors are back in action, and they’re hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves. The big news for the Warriors is that Steph Curry is healthy again, and ready
to make his return to action.
While Curry will be on the court, a few notable names will not be, as each team is fairly compromised. Here’s the full injury report for Friday night’s game.
Warriors
Out — Draymond Green (personal reasons)
Green missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and will miss the game tonight. While the Warriors have not explicitly said why — they’ve listed him as being an “excused absence” for personal reasons — it’s no secret that Green and his wife Hazel have been expecting their second child. Here’s hoping everything is going well, and everyone is healthy.
Steve Kerr said he expects Green to be with the team for Sunday’s game, though he wasn’t sure if the defensive ace will play, as he might not be in game shape after missing two games before the break, and now these lost practices.
Out — Al Horford (right sciatic nerve irritation)
Horford has had a really hard time staying on the court this year though, thankfully, Quinten Post has really stepped up and made that not hurt.
Probable — Trayce Jackson-Davis (right knee patellar tendonitis)
Post will get the bulk of the minutes at center tonight, but TJD should figure to play a lot as well, with Horford and Green sidelined. So thankfully he appears likely to play.
Wolves
Out — Anthony Edwards (right foot soreness)
The Warriors are catching a huge break by not having to face Minnesota’s young superstar, who is averaging 28.7 points per game this year, while shooting 41.6% from distance. The Wolves are 2-2 without Edwards this year, though the two wins came against very poor teams (Charlotte and Brooklyn).
Out — Mike Conley (right Achilles tendinopathy)
One of my all-time favorite players is seeing his career come to an end, as the one-time All-Star — and four-time Sportsmanship award winner — is averaging just 19.1 minutes and 5.3 points per game in this, his 19th NBA season.
Out — Joan Beringer (on G League assignment)
The Wolves went into the draft this year and decided to draft a French center to back up their French center. While we can expect to see lots of Rudy Gobert tonight, we won’t be seeing any of Beringer, the 17th overall pick. He’s getting some seasoning in the G League, and hasn’t played much at all in his debut season.
Enjoy the game, Dub Nation! It tips off at 7:00 p.m. PT on NBC Sports Bay Area and NBA TV.
