It feels like Reggie Walsh has been around forever, but that’s just because he made his senior debut aged 16.5 — third youngest in club history, as well as our youngest ever player in European competition. He’s gone on to feature four times for the first-team in the last two seasons, but now that he’s closing in on his 18th birthday, it’s time for some serious senior football. And so, he’s heading out on his first loan assignment, joining Wigan Athletic for the season ahead.
The Latics are currently
plying their trade in the third division (League One), thanks in part to some financial troubles in recent years, but their situation looks to be stabilizing under new ownership and they can look forward to better days ahead. They finished midtable the last two seasons and began the current campaign with defeat last weekend.
“Being 17, I need to play men’s football, and I believe this is the perfect environment for me to be in and build my career to get to where I want to be.”

Good luck, Reg!
