Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich levied some praise on German national team winger Leroy Sané, his former teammate in Bavaria.
In his return to Die Mannschaft, Sané had two goals and two assists total
in wins over Luxembourg and Slovakia.
“In my career, I’ve rarely seen a player as physically strong as Leroy. He can run and sprint a lot and can do it every three days. When he’s mentally ready, we’ve seen what he can do. He had an impressive performance [against Slovakia], he rewarded himself with two goals but also worked hard and was diligent in the counter pressing. When he does that, when Flo Wirtz does that, when our attacking players press and defend, then the entire team pulls together and we can be successful,” said Kimmich (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
With his performances, it would seem like a shoo-in that Sané has firmly thrust himself into the mix for a starting role, not just a roster spot.
However, Kimmich makes a great point aside of his support for Sané, with Germany needed everyone to play ends of the pitch in unison. If Germany can do that, maybe — just maybe — it can push itself into being a true contender for the World Cup.
