We know the Falcons will have quite a few open practices for fans to watch during training camp, which is good news for those hoping to see the new regime and many new players in person. Now we know when the team will actually report for training camp, as well.
Per the NFL, rookies will show up on July 24 and veterans will report on July 28, three days before the first open practice takes place on July 31. That means this intriguing rookie class, highlighted by Avieon Terrell and Zachariah Branch,
will kick us off before everyone else arrives and we start obsessively tracking training camp battles at quarterback, right tackle, inside linebacker, and cornerback, among many other positions.
This will be a busy training camp. The first reason for that is that the Falcons have joint practices with the Colts to test their mettle, but the larger reason is that everything is so new. The fresh faces outnumber the familiar ones on the 90 man roster, Atlanta’s football power structure has been transformed, and the team is desperate to put eight seasons of mediocrity or worse behind them. We’re going to see something new, or we’re going to worry.
We’re less than a month away from rookies reporting, then, and about a month away from training camp being in full swing. Enjoy the quiet time in between and get ready for what we all pray is going to be a more successful Falcons
