Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love could not clear concussion protocol and was ruled out of Saturday night’s matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.
Love sustained a concussion in last week’s loss to
the Bears and was listed as questionable after limited participation in practice all week. Backup Malik Willis will start in his stead despite an illness and an injury to his throwing shoulder. The Packers elevated Clayton Tune from the practice squad to serve as the No. 2.
Love’s absence sets up a battle of the backups between Willis and Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley, who will start in place of Lamar Jackson. Jackson took a knee to the back on Sunday night against the Patriots and was not able to practice this week. He is listed as doubtful and is not expected to play.
Willis played well in relief of Love last week, completing eight of his 11 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown, plus 44 yards and a fumble on 10 rushing attempts. Huntley has similarly stepped up when Jackson has been injured, leading the Ravens to a 30-16 win over the Bears in Week 8 and nearly outlasting the Patriots last week.
