The Miami Dolphins announced last night that they were awarded wide receiver Ryan Miller off waivers from the New York Giants. An undrafted free agent out of Furman, Miller signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023, appearing in one game as a rookie. He played 11 games, including three starts, in 2024 with the Buccaneers, and then made 13 appearances, starting three times, for Tampa Bay last year before being waived during the season. The Giants claimed him off waivers, but he did not make an appearance with them.
He has 14 receptions over his three seasons, gaining 162 yards with three touchdowns.
To make roster space for Miller, Miami waived wide receiver Tahj Washington. The Dolphins selected Washington in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at USC for three years after a two year stint at Memphis.
With Miami, Washington missed his rookie season after being placed on injured reserve at the start of training camp. He returned to the team last year, appearing in six games, including one start, with three receptions for 37 yards.
Washington was buried on the depth chart this year and had been quiet during training camp. During the Dolphins’ Preseason Week 2 loss to the Giants, Washington muffed a punt with New York able to recover the loose ball. He had one catch for 12 yards during the game.
