Well, that was something.
On Thursday night, in a marquee state national matchup between No. 13 Brentwood Academy and No. 12 Chattanooga Baylor, three of Tennessee’s biggest commits in the class of 2027 were on full display on ESPN2. Baylor RB David Gabriel Georges squared off against LB Kenneth Simon II and WR Kesean Bowman. And while all had their moments, DGG showed why he is arguably the best player in the nation regardless of position and perhaps the best running back prospect in years.

Georges racked up over 250 yards from scrimmage in Baylor’s 38-20 win over Brentwood Academy. He went for 178 yards on the ground, 73 in the passing game, and three total touchdowns.
And he had a couple of unbelievable plays that showed off both his ability and his pure power and grit.
In the first quarter, he got popped and flew up into the air. However, he did a front flip and somehow landed on his feet and kept on going!
Later, in the fourth quarter, Gabriel Georges lined up wide and took a pass. He broke through the Brentwood Academy defense and, just like the Energizer bunny, he kept going, and going, and going through contact. His helmet was even ripped off, and he kept on trucking.
DGG is ranked as the No. 2 running back in the 2027 class by On3/Rivals. That, clearly, is one spot too low.
He has abilities that really and truly are special, and that’s not my take. Just read what former Tennessee running back Jabari Davis had to say about his ability.
As Alvin Kamara is the most naturally talented Tennessee running back that I’ve watched in the 21st century, that’s quite the compliment.
Vol fans should be getting extremely excited about the future and what he will bring to Tennessee’s offense. For the time being, continue to enjoy the ridiculous highlights that DGG will post every Friday night this fall.
