Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Football
Cayden Green was added to the list of Tigers that received national recognition this week. The Football Writers Association of America named Green the Outland Trophy National Player of the Week.
In Mizzou’s 45-17 win over Florida, Green continued a three-week streak of not allowing a pressure, sack, or QB hit. The Tigers also rushed for 220 yards on the ground.
Per the FWAA, Green joins Dominick Giudice (2025) as the second Tiger to earn the weekly honor.

- From Colin Simmons | Mizzou Football Notes and Quotes: Texas A&M Edition
Running back Ahmad Hardy has not yet been cleared to begin his two-week practice ramp-up. Drinkwitz said HDriardy is working hard but did not have a timetable for his return.
“As soon as I get an update that’s worth sharing, I promise I will,” Drinkwitz said. “I know everybody’s frustrated, I know he’s frustrated. I’m not trying to be frustrated. When he’s ready, he’s ready.”
Still no update on Ahmad Hardy’s status at the beginning of October.
- From Matthew Gustafson | Tiger Talk Notes and Quotes: Aggies Edition
(Austin Simmons) On the culture difference at Mizzou: “I came from a program that used to have a whole lot of transfers and a whole lot of newcomers coming in, so it was nothing really new for me. But as far as like the connection goes, I’ve never seen anything like it before. I’ve talked to guys I’ve never thought I would speak to before; I’m really close with the specialists, I’m really close with defensive players like Sione. And as far as friendships go, I think I’m gonna have friends that last a lifetime.”
- From Audrey Walker | Mizzou Women’s Golf takes second at OU Intercollegiate
Mizzou recorded its lowest score, a 9-under-par team total, during the third round Tuesday at the Wichita Country Club in Wichita, Kansas, to keep its second-place rank after the second round. This followed a 1-over team total for the first round and a 3-under for the second.
Another outstanding performance by Addie Dobson helped MU claim a second-place finish in Wichita. Mizzou heads to Medinah, IL next to compete in the Illini Women’s Invitational.
Just an awesome culture Eli Drinkwitz has built at Mizzou.
- From Nate Edwards | Beyond The Box Score: Ceiling
This was easily the most thorough beating of an SEC foe in a long time, and OH BY THE WAY they were ranked #8 in the country at the time.
Just an all-around great victory for Mizzou.
- From Aaron Segal | Grace Slaughter is chasing more than one final season
The WNBA has been part of Slaughter’s aspirations since before Kellie Harper’s staff took over at Mizzou, and now that possibility is getting closer. The Tigers’ coaching staff has spent the past year helping Slaughter understand what it takes to make that jump, while Slaughter has taken much of that development into her own hands.
Grace Slaughter was Mizzou’s leading scorer last season with 18.7 points per game. It’ll be awesome to see how she builds off of last season with WNBA aspirations.
- From Sam Snelling | Non-Confrence Preview: Indiana
Regardless of how things have gone, I don’t think Indiana fans have altered the expectations much. So DeVries had a lot of money to go portal shopping with, and the results were… well, they were ok.
And by ok, I mean Indiana should certainly be a tournament team. Their early BartTorvik.com projections have them 28th overall, which is good, but it’s like 6-7 seed territory and not Final Four caliber.
For the first time since 2004, Mizou will take on Indiana. It’ll be a true test as the Tigers travel to Assembly Hall, one of the most historic arenas in college basketball.
