With one regular season week left to go, there’s an awful lot left to be decided in terms of seeding for the 2026 Big East men’s basketball conference tournament. UConn has a half game lead on St. John’s with the two teams tied in the loss column in terms of the regular season title race. The Johnnies have to get through a home game against Georgetown and a visit to Seton Hall this week, while UConn is down to only Saturday’s road game against Marquette.
Villanova is firmly locked into the #3 seed
in the tournament as they are three games back with two to play and four games up as well. Seton Hall and DePaul are in the driver’s seat for the final two byes into the quarterfinals, but they could still end up as low as #7 or #9 in the seeding, depending on precisely how the tiebreakers end up shaking out.
That means that Creighton, Providence, Butler, and Xavier all have mathematical chances of at least tying for one of the five locked into spots in the quarterfinals heading into the final week of competition. Georgetown and Marquette are currently tied for 10th/last in the league at 5-13, but the math of where they are with two games remaining means that both teams could still finish as high as seventh.
Since Villanova’s the only team that’s locked in somewhere right now, you’d think that maybe their final games of the season would have that much impact on the seedings and standings. However, the Wildcats have to visit DePaul and host Xavier on Wednesday and Saturday respectively, and as such, they will have a part to play in the proceedings. One way or another, pretty much every one of the final 10 games of the year will decide something about the seeding for next week at Madison Square Garden, and so, they’re all highlights in their own ways.
Here’s the full men’s basketball schedule for the week, with all times Central, as always.
No table for the women’s basketball schedule this week as they’ve wrapped up their regular season and all that’s left is the 10 games of the Big East conference tournament. We already have a blog post up about that if you’re curious about the details, but here’s the schedule for it. All times are Central, and all games will be streamed exclusively on Peacock.
