Luan Lacerda sparked the “Prelims” undercard with an impressive finish earlier tonight (Sat., Oct. 11, 2025) at UFC Rio LIVE on ESPN+ from inside Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, stopping fellow
Brazilian, Saimon Oliveira, with a slick second-round submission (armbar).
In case you missed it, Oliveira badly missed weight Friday and was forced to cough up 50% of his fight purse. A case could have been made that the promotion should have canceled the fight, but both fighters still wanted to compete. Despite Lacerda getting a hefty pay increase from half of Oliveira’s purse, the risk of fighting a much-heavier opponent was still there.
Luckily for Lacerda, Oliveira’s weight advantage didn’t play that big of a factor at all. The bantamweight prospect was able to utilize his wrestling and grappling early on to keep Oliveira on the defensive. Oliveira was able to gain top control in the second round, but that’s when Lacerda locked up a tight armbar, reversed Oliveira, left him belly down, and forced the tap.
It was a memorable start to the card to say the least and a perfect way for Lacerda to repay Oliveira for a horrid weight miss earlier this week. Check out the final moments below:
