The San Francisco Giants welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers to Oracle Park tonight to begin a three-game series.
Taking the mound for the Giants will be right-hander Justin Verlander, who enters tonight’s game with a 4.09 ERA, 3.64 FIP, with 120 strikeouts to 43 walks in 127.2 innings pitched. His last start was in the Giants’ 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, in which he allowed just three hits with six strikeouts in six innings.
He’ll be facing off against Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu
Yamamoto, who enters tonight’s game with a 2.72 ERA, 3.06 FIP, with 177 strikeouts to 50 walks in 155.1 innings pitched. His last start was in the Dodgers’ 4-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, in which he allowed one run on one hit with 10 strikeouts and two walks in eight and two thirds innings. (To be more accurate, he had a no-hitter going into the final out, before giving up a home run to Jackson Holliday. If he weren’t on the Dodgers, I’d say you hate to see it. But considering he is a Dodger, and they went on to lose the game, you kind of love to see it.)
