The Las Vegas Raiders, of course, own the No.1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Barring an unexpected change, the Raiders are expected to use the pick on Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Then, the team and its fan base will hope Mendoza turns out to be a quality NFL player.
As Raiders’ fans know, there is nothing worse when it comes to the draft than seeing the No. 1 overall pick become a bust. Bad Jamarcus Russell memories aside, the odds seen pretty strong that Mendoza will be a hit.
Rotowire.com
recently conducted a study of the No. 1 overall draft picks from 2000-24. The results are encouraging.
According to the study, 68 percent of the picks became a Pro Bowl player. Eight percent became All-Pros and nine percent were busts. I think, a this point, Raiders fans would be pleased if Mendoza earned a few Pro Bowl berths.
