When Busted Open Radio became WWE Radio, the illusion of independence was shattered. There were already plenty of folks unhappy with the manner of coverage they were getting from Dave LaGreca and his rotating cast of co-hosts but it went into overdrive once this move was announced. The obvious questions were raised — how much WWE propaganda would we be getting from a list of hosts who either have or still currently work for the company?
To that end, Bully Ray is out here pushing Enzo Amore propaganda
just after Big Cass made his return to WWE. From a recent episode (via Wrestling Observer):
“I still want Cass to be given more opportunities to get over on his own because if he can, WWE could use one of those traditional big men. He’s seven feet tall, you can’t teach that. But if it doesn’t work, I always think, in case of emergency, you can break glass and call Enzo in.
“I think Enzo got a very, very, very bad rap years ago when that situation happened with him. I think Enzo has done a phenomenal job on his own, grinding, pumping the indies, doing whatever he possibly can to keep his name out there, the use of social media. And as we both know, the guy can talk. And as of right this very moment, where he’s probably either in Asbury Park or in Hoboken, New Jersey, he’s a better talker right now, with only social media exposure, than 99 percent of the guys on the main roster.”
Amore was fired by WWE following a police investigation into sexual assault allegations against him. No charges were filed but the word was that his release came because he hadn’t informed the company about the incident that led to the allegations. If they’re going to bring him back, and there have been reports the company is interested in doing just that, a rehabilitation campaign would make sense.
Ray isn’t necessarily wrong here, to be fair. Amore has always been a hell of talker.
We’ll see where this goes, and if this turns into an outright campaign for Enzo’s return to television.
