The Cincinnati Bengals were back on the practice field Tuesday and as practice rolled along, Ja’Marr Chase appeared to be injured. Chase ran a deep route in team drills and came up favoring his left knee.
You can see Chase come down awkwardly on the knee without being hit. He came up slowly and walked off the field to go get checked out by the training staff.
Thankfully, it does appear that Chase avoided a serious injury. He was talking to trainers for a bit and then was seemingly in good spirting, reenacting what happened.
If it were more severe, Chase would have likely gone to the locker room immediately. The fact that he rejoined his teammates is very encouraging, though his day at practice is likely done.
Reporters at practice also noted that after Chase’s injury scare, fellow wideout Tee Higgins removed his pads and was also done for the day. Zac Taylor is likely going to be cautious moving forward, with no starters expected to play in Friday’s preseason finale.
They will watch Chase closely, I’m sure but for now, it appears we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief.
