In a recent interview with Complex Graps, WWE Intercontinental champion Chad Gable was reflecting on his electric match with Dragon Lee from two Mondays ago when Raw was in Mexico City.
One of things Gable said he thinks he and Lee accomplished was convincing Arena CMDX the title was going to change hands. It’s something he hopes to do with his entire run:
“I think what I lend to this title, or what I’m trying to lend to this title is the fact that I want to give these guys opportunities and create
these situations where it could happen any night. The kind of matches we have, the title could change hands any night. Those are the opponents I want, I want people to believe in them to that degree, that we’re on the cusp of something special every time I defend the championship — trying to do something special with this one and I think we’re getting there.”
To that end, the champ is defending his belt tonight, Fri., Sept. 25. Not on SmackDown, however. He’s doing it on the first night of NXT’s house show swing through the Carolinas and Tennessee this weekend.
Can Gable and the former DarkState member create magic in Columbia, South Carolina the way the champ and Dragon Lee did in Mexico?
