Chris Curtis isn’t pleased with how his latest loss went down.
“The Action Man” lost a lopsided decision Saturday at UFC Vegas 114, finding himself overwhelmed by Myktybek Orolbai’s smothering grappling game. In the end, Orolbai swept the scorecards to earn a unanimous decision win.
Later, Curtis took to Facebook to share his thoughts on the fight, including a critique of Orolbai’s strategy.
“Well, that was as fun as a wet fart in church,” Curtis said. “Sorry guys. Physical therapy went well. My knee
held up. I had a great camp. No excuses. Just a shit night and a shit fight.
“Man had really good grip strength and it’s incredibly hard to fight a man that has no intention of being in a fight. Got some thinking to do and some stuff to figure out. But I walked out with no physical damage at all, just my pride really hurt. Thanks for the love and support. We’ll see where we go from here.”
It was a disappointing performance for Curtis, a 46-fight veteran who can count on one hand the amount of losses he’s had in his career as a result of being unable to deal with his opponent’s grappling. But Orolbai was spectacular Saturday, aggressively tying Curtis up and outwrestling him to the tune of a UFC welterweight record 19 successful takedown attempts.
Curtis (32-13, 1 NC) has now lost three of his past four fights and is just 1-1 since returning to welterweight.
The veteran’s critique is unlikely to affect Orolbai’s future game plans. Orolbai (16-2-1) has won three straight fights and said in his post-fight scrum he plans to have even more takedowns in his next fight.
