When Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula opted to fire veteran head coach Sean McDermott after Buffalo’s latest postseason heartbreak, reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen “had no input” on that decision.
Now, as the Bills sift through the available coaching candidates, Allen’s role has changed, as the 30-year-old face of the franchise will be heavily involved in picking the team’s next head coach.
Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by exploring how Allen is being counted on as a valuable voice in the
head coaching search and discussing whether giving Allen this much influence is a good idea.
Josh Allen is “sitting in for everything” as the team searches for next head coach
Josh Allen is Buffalo’s Superman. Able to make incredible, awe-inspiring moves on the football field with his powerful arm and legs. On the field, Allen’s role makes him partially responsible for the successes and failures of the man hired to replace McDermott. But this offseason, with the Bills at a crossroads, the team took it a step further, placing enormous trust in their dynamic face of the franchise to help identify their next head coach.
Allen has already been involved in the head coach interview process, “sitting in for everything,” according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. We examine the role Allen will play as Buffalo interviews potential head coaches and discuss whether the team should be giving Allen so much say when it comes to the next coach of the Bills.
