Another Mizzou Athletics sports season is upon us! While the last few years I’ve assigned this written piece to one of our talented photographers, I’m taking it over this year, and will be selecting my favorites of the week. Since I am not a photographer at heart, my analysis will be more surface level, but I’ll try my best!
I’m back this week with photos from volleyball’s win on Senior Day, soccer’s home finale win over Texas A&M, and softball’s fall ball game against UA Rich Mountain.
Senior Day Sweep
The Tigers
defeated the Crimson Tide 25-13, 25-21 and 25-11 on Senior Day, earning their second consecutive sweep, third victory in a row, and improving to 11-8 overall and 4-3 in the SEC, and honored their seniors— Sierra Dudley, Kimani Johnson, Grace O’Reilly, and Kaylen Rush (daughter of Tiger basketball legend, Kareem Rush).
Home Finale Heroics
With an SEC Tournament appearance hanging in the balance, Mizzou overcame a two-goal deficit to take a 3-2 win on goals by Taryn Chance (27), Rylie Morse (12) and Brianna Buels (2). Mizzou now sits 13th with seven points, one behind LSU for the 12th and final spot in the SEC Tournament.
Softball Fall Ball
Fall Ball wrapped up this weekend with a game against Lindenwood on Friday, games against teams I didn’t know existed in UA Rich Mountain and Three Rivers Community College on Saturday, and a Big 10 matchup against Iowa in the finale. Margo was on hand for the UARM game, along with softball contributor Dylan Heinrich. Our notebook will be out mid-week, so be on the lookout. I do not know what the results of this game were at publication.
Multimedia
Here’s my video of the final point of the Mizzou-Alabama match, as well as the postseason presser, featuring Dawn Sullivan and seniors Sierra Dudley and Grace O’Reilly.
