Union Berlin head coach Steffen Baumgart knows how talented Bayern Munich is, but do not expect the coach allow his team to just grin and bear it.
Union Berlin aims to take the Bavarians down and get a badly
needed three points.
“Bayern are one of the best teams in Europe. What makes them so special is their collective approach. When you see how they fought in Paris in the second half, you realize that’s where they’ve made the biggest step forward,” said Baumgart (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “It’s one game out of 34. There’s a chance to get three points. That’s what we want. We know there are other opponents against whom our chances might be a bit higher. But why not approach this game with the intention of winning? We have a lot of respect for FC Bayern, but we’re very much looking forward to it.”
Bayern Munich will have to battle to ward off the distractions that lie ahead due to the impending international break. For Baumgart, maybe that kind of distraction for the Bavarians would be welcome. His team will be ready to square up either way.
Bayern Munich will be traveling to Berlin to square off with The Iron Ones in a match that — on paper — seems like just another team that the Bavarians should dominate.
However, there is at least some risk. Going on the road, just before an international break, and being weary from a super intense match against Paris Saint-Germain could be dangerous. Some would even say this could be a “trap game,”
Bayern Munich, though, could be out to prove it is “trap proof.” So, let’s discuss it all right here — this is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:
