Undisputed WWE Champion and social media provocateur Drew McIntyre was at it again ahead of SmackDown.
On X, he shared a fan’s 2020 exchange with Cody Rhodes in response to a post asking to show “the greatest tweet in wrestling history.” The fan, Wilson, wrote:
“Truly spoken like someone who’s midcard for life, because that’s what he is, @CodyRhodes is midcard for life.”
Rhodes asked if Wilson followed him, and Wilson replied, “Because you’re my favourite midcarder.”
McIntyre’s message alone was a heel move, but sharing it without context made the jab even sharper.
Wilson’s post came in response to a story about Rhodes not believing in midcard titles. On the first anniversary of the tweet, Wilson wrote, “Thank you everyone that has engaged with this tweet, I love every single one of you. And thanks Cody Rhodes, for setting yourself up for it.”
After Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Championship for the first time in 2024, Wilson celebrated, calling him “my favourite World Champion,” and later praised him as “the guy who can draw the big money… deserving to be called the top guy in the wrestling business.”
McIntyre, the reigning champion, is unlikely to highlight those positive posts. As for Rhodes, he would later qualify for the Elimination Chamber, where he’ll have a chance to earn a title match against McIntyre at WrestleMania 42.
For now, McIntyre continues the online persona he established in 2024 while feuding with CM Punk, further cementing him as one of wrestling’s top antagonists.
