New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye finished Sunday’s game on the bench.
Trailing 35-6 in the fourth quarter, head coach Mike Vrabel pulled his third-year quarterback. In his place, backup Tommy DeVito took the field with under eight minutes remaining.
Maye’s early season struggles continued in Jacksonville, as he lost a fumble and threw a pair of interceptions. On the first quarter fumble, Maye saw the ball slip out of his throwing hand while his first interception came in the end zone near
the end of the first half.
Through three weeks, the 24-year old has now thrown just one touchdown and turned the ball over seven times (six interceptions, one fumble).
The Patriots will fall to 1-2 on the year and turn their attention to a divisional matchup with the Buffalo Bills in Week 4.
