After a short one-season stint with the New York Jets, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields is being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, per Adam Schefter.
For the Ohio State product, things started well in New York, as Fields and the Jets gave his former club all they could handle in Week One. Despite the valiant effort against Pittsburgh, things went downhill fast, as Fields and company soon stared an 0-7 record in the face.
Seeing the lack of results, Jets coach Aaron Glenn turned
to Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook. Now, with the team recently acquiring an old friend in Geno Smith, it appears Fields is getting the boot.
On Monday, NFL insider Adam Schefter announced the Kansas City Chiefs are acquiring Fields in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round draft pick. Additionally, Kansas City will pay $3 million of the $10 million owed to the newest Chief next season.
It will be a new-look offense for the Chiefs, as general manager Brett Veach added Super Bowl LX MVP RB Kenneth Walker to the roster. Furthermore, Veach elected to bring back 36-year-old TE Travis Kelce, despite rising doubt from the media.
Fields started six games with the Steelers in 2024, going 4-2 with five passing touchdowns, five rushing touchdowns, and one interception.
