Kansas City Chiefs training camp is underway, although Thursday’s practice was marred by rain. It was not one of my favorite memories of a day spent in St. Joe.
One of the top memories I do have was from the 2010 season’s training camp, the rookie season of legendary safety Eric Berry. Our friend group was chaperoned by a couple of parents to watch camp and seek autographs from the team afterward.
Our sights were set on getting Berry’s autograph, and we wouldn’t be denied. Our tallest friend went as
far as to lift another friend up and over a crowd of people in front of Berry.
With a jersey outstretched in our friend’s arms, as he was held in our other friend’s outstretched arms, Berry took the jersey and signed it. We roared in excitement as our friend returned to the ground with Berry’s signature.
What’s your favorite memory of training camp, whether you attended in St. Joe or River Falls, Wisconsin? Let us know in the comments.
