Bayern Munich and Germany legend Thomas Müller recorded a short reel while on his way to Chicago, touching on the outcome of the World Cup semi-final between England and Argentina. While he praised the Argentinians for their amazing comeback, the 36-year-old could not help but be disappointed in the way England basically surrendered the game after going 1-0 up.

Argentina plays a hell of a game and I cannot believe and understand how England approaches …

This game, especially after they’re leading. I cannot understand. To invite the whole Argentinian game to hit one cross after the other in perfect crossing positions, but no matter.
Chicago ahead! Lewa, I come to you and see you!
Watching the video you get the sense that Müller was almost left speechless by how England approached the game after they went a goal up. England coach Thomas Tuchel has been roundly criticized in the media following the game.
Müller himself was involved in a similar sort of game, however on the other side. When Bayern Munich faced Juventus in 2016, the Italians quickly went 2-0 up at the Bavarians’ home ground. Instead of pressing their advantage, coach Massimiliano Allegri had his team hunker down and hope to preserve the 2-0 lead. It came back to bite him when Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller scored from bullet crosses to send the game to extra time, where they conceded two more goals and crashed out of the Champions League.
Juventus did the exact same thing as England, they were soundly dominated the same way. When a team is that relentless with their crossing into the box, there are very few defenses that won’t break. Who knows what England were thinking when they did what they did. They will have time to rue their decision as they watch the final on TV this weekend.
