We’re officially onto the second half of the 2025 football season, Syracuse Orange fans. As expected, our Go Bowling Military Bowl O’Meter has had its ups and downs.
Currently, the meter has seen better days, but not all hope is lost just yet. SU got back on track with a 45-6 blowout victory over the Fightin’ Byes last weekend and should have some extra rest for this Saturday night’s tussle against Pittsburgh in the Dome.
Speaking of which, here’s how the win over the Bye’s reflects on our Bowl O’Meter:

For the first time all year, it appears the meter is being subjective, giving the Orange no credit with their triumph over the Fightin’s. A win over the Panthers would certainly move the meter and is crucial for a chance to go bowling.
Here’s where “experts” around the nation project the Orange in postseason play after Week 7:
ESPN – Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura
Schlabach – JLab Birmingham Bowl vs Auburn Tigers
Surprisingly, here’s a bit of an upgrade after last week’s Gasparilla Bowl projection. For the Orange to get there, though, Rickie Collins will have to be much improved in the final six games.
Bonagura – No bowl
Bonagura hasn’t had much faith in SU throughout the season, so I’m not too shocked in this projection.
No bowl
The big win over the Fightin’ Byes didn’t sway CFN. I’d say a win over Pitt would usher in a different result.
No bowl
We’re two weeks removed from the Birmingham Bowl projection and time will tell if we’ll ever get it back.
No bowl
SI seems to be the biggest Otto frowner in the group, having never predicted the Orange in the postseason all year.
