Kentucky Football is still waiting to hear whether linebacker Alex Afari will be able to suit up for the Cats this season as he pursues a fifth season of eligibility.
On Monday, Afari appeared in Jefferson Circuit Court in hopes of getting a temporary restraining order to become eligible to play for Kentucky. He was looking to join the same case that got Mark Mitchell eligible to play next season, even if he did wind up returning to Missouri.
However, Judge Brian Edwards delayed making a ruling and
said he hopes to make one soon. It’s unclear how soon that will come, and with Kentucky’s season opener on Saturday, it’s safe to think Afari won’t get to play against Youngstown State.
Hopefully, Afari will get eligible in the coming days and get enough practice in that he’s able to play in Week 2 when Kentucky hosts Alabama in the first SEC game of the Will Stein era.
