The pride of Gonzaga Bulldogs women’s basketball, forward Yvonne Ejim, is on the verge of returning to the upcoming Summer Olympics with her home country. Canada punched their ticket and the final available spot to the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Ejim contributed 10 points and 16 rebounds in the 83-53 victory in the Pre-Qualifying Olympic Tournament’s title game over host Mexico in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year was named to the All-Star Five
after averaging 6.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.2 steals across five unbeaten contests for the Canadians.
Before she was cut by the WNBA’s Toronto Tempo after their inaugural training camp back in May, Ejim competed for IDK Euskotren in San Sebastian, Spain, in the top-tier Liga Femenina Endesa.
Ejim and Canada now have a while to go until the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in February of 2028. This will be the final stage of qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California.
