Where did all this come from? Two weeks ago, no one was linking Michael Olise to a transfer anywhere, Real Madrid or otherwise. Now Bayern Munich fans have to deal with a barrage of insider “reports” which claim the Spanish giants are ready to break the bank for the Frenchman.
It isn’t just random X accounts any more, the rumors have gathered steam to the point where France coach Didier Deschamps commented on the situation. In an interview with Marca, the 57-year-old World Cup winner was equivocal
about his star player’s future.
“He will know very well whether he stays at Bayern Munich or whether he needs a change of scenery,” said Deschamps. “There is no right or wrong choice.”
“Obviously, if I put myself in (Vincent) Kompany’s or the Bayern president’s shoes, having him on their team and having him stay at Bayern would be something very, very good. I imagine he may also receive offers from other clubs.”
“I am not worried by the fact that what he does with Bayern or what he does with the French national team could also be reproduced at other clubs,” he concluded. “But if I say that, it does not benefit Bayern.”
This seems a little… concerning. Of course, Deschamps is not supposed to get involved in transfer gossip days before the biggest tournament in the sport, but he could have just waved off any speculation whatsoever. Saying it like this muddies the waters and makes it easy for the media to turn this into a [censored].
