Kentucky had a more than ideal start on offense Saturday night at South Carolina when their first two drives of the game went for a touchdown and a field goal.
Unfortunately, the following five drives (all
in the second quarter) ended in a fumble returned for a score, interception, turnover on downs, interception and fumble.
Yikes.
The second half wasn’t much better as the Wildcats punted, kicked a field goal and punted again before the game ended in favor of South Carolina, 35-13.
While the team hasn’t given fans a reason to be optimistic, Kentucky quarterback Cutter Boley isn’t losing the confidence he has in his team to rebound from the defeat.
The Wildcats have a quick turnaround this week as they return to Lexington for practice before departing again — this time to visit a Georgia Bulldogs team coming off a steaming loss to SEC rival Alabama.
It’s hard to picture a worse spot for Kentucky football to be in, but Boley believes there are a lot of plays Kentucky left on the football field Saturday night, and it’s possible that the final score didn’t exactly reflect Kentucky’s status as a team.
The young quarterback and his team will certainly have their chance to show their fans what they’re made of Saturday in Athens. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon ET on ABC.
