The Red Storm have more shoes to fill for next season’s roster. European internationals Lefteris Liotopoulos and Imran Suljanovic entered the transfer portal on Saturday. The news was first reported by Zach Braziller of the New York Post.
One of four players to compete on both of St. John’s’ Big East regular season and tournament champion teams, Liotopoulos was an end-of-the-rotation guard for the Red Storm who rarely had his number called, but was ready and willing to shoot whenever the Johnnies
struggled from three and needed a long-range spark. The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 2.9 points on 33.9% shooting and 29.1% from three in 55 games played over two seasons in New York.
Known by his coaches and teammates as “Lefty”, the Thessaloniki, Greece native had his finest game in a Red Storm jersey in their 90-73 win over Creighton on January 10, their first victory over the Bluejays in Omaha in seven years. Liotopoulos recorded a career-high 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three in 29 minutes off the bench.
Austrian forward Suljanovic committed to St. John’s last April, but never stepped on the floor after suffering a dislocated patella during an October practice that ended his season before it even started. After using a medical red-shirt this season, Suljanovic will have four years of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
Following Liotopoulos and Suljanovic’s departures, St. John’s currently has seven scholarship players for the 2026-27 season, all of whom are returning players. This week, the Red Storm are hosting transfers Abdi Bashir from Kansas State, Mouhamed Dioubate from Kentucky, and DeSean Goode from Robert Morris on campus visits. The Johnnies are also working on scheduling a visit for Toledo transfer guard Leroy Blyden, Jr.
