The Kentucky Wildcats have signed another player in the transfer portal.
No, it’s not Sam Leavitt, but it is at a position of need. It comes in the form of former LSU defensive lineman Ahmad Breaux, who committed to Kentucky on Sunday. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Breaux totaled 36 tackles in two seasons at LSU, with a half sack this past season. He was named LSU’s 2024 Defensive Freshman of the Year.
In high school, the 6-3, 278-pound Breaux was a 3-star recruit, according to On3,
247 Sports, ESPN, and Rivals, out of Ruston High School in Ruston, Louisiana. Breaux helped Ruston capture the 2023 Division I non-select state title with a 31-17 win over Zachary. It was Ruston’s first state title since 1990.
Breaux was ranked as the nation’s 79th-ranked defensive lineman and 20th overall in Louisiana in the 247 Sports Composite rankings.
When he arrived at LSU, he was expected to play edge or outside linebacker, but he transitioned to the interior of the defensive line during the fall. Breaux put on nearly 40 pounds since his arrival on campus in January of 2024.
Now, Breaux will provide a much-needed spark to the Kentucky defense.
