Garrett Wilson will not be suiting up for the New York Jets when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs today. Wilson is in the concussion protocol and will miss his first game this season. Wilson’s absence will be a problem for the Jets passing game in a game when they will need every weapon they can find. However, unlike past years, the Jets have some pretty good weapons even without Wilson, including rookies Omar Cooper and Kenyon Sadiq and young veteran Adonai Mitchell. Together with the return
of Breece Hall to the lineup and the emergence of Braelon Allen as one of the best young backs in the game, the Jets should be able to compensate fairly well for the loss of Wilson.
The full Jets inactive list for today’s game is as follows:
Garrett Wilson
Tim Patrick
Blake Freeland
Trevin Wallace
Joseph Ossai
Nahshon Wright
Kohl Levao
Joseph Ossai has been a disatrous free agent signing for the Jets thus far. He has missed all but three games with various injuries, and when he has played, he hasn’t been very effective. Signed for three years and $36+ million in this past offseason, Ossai has been a costly mistake to date. Perhaps he will eventually prove otherwise if he can just get healthy.
Another issue on the above list is Nahshon Wright. Wright signed with the Jets in the offseason after earning a Pro Bowl nod last year with the Chicago Bears. He has been active for just three games for the Jets. He has played just 22 snaps, all on special teams. Unlike Ossai, health hasn’t been the issue for Wright. He just hasn’t been good enough to crack the lineup. It probably would behoove the Jets to move Wright at the trade deadline, assuming there is any market for him.
