John Cena made plenty of promises on The John Cena Classic, perhaps the most important of which being that we would finally get some answers to all the questions we’ve had since he announced the concept at Backlash all the way back in May. He came to Monday Night Raw this week in Brooklyn to finally make good on that.
He even wore his gear for this instead of a suit!
Okay, he wasn’t fully in gear. No jorts.
Anyway.
There were three big announcements he had for us.
First, the date and location — Dec. 14
from Disney World in Orlando, Florida, which means we are getting two episodes of Monday Night Raw on the same day. Perth, Australia gets one, and this will be the other.
Second, the reveal of the John Cena Classic championship. It more or less looks like the old spinner WWE championship but with Cena himself on the front. Oh, and it doesn’t spin.
Third, the who — Cody Rhodes was introduced as the first ever invitee. He also plans to show up on NXT, Friday Night SmackDown, and even Survivor Series in Houston later this month, to invite others and “make sure it’s absolutely stacked.” Then he put Rhodes over as big as he could — saying he was wrong about him, and he’s carrying the company in a way Cena never could.
We didn’t get any other invites at this time. Instead, Randy Orton came out so Cena took the title and split.
