This piece could be for deeper analysis of an exciting NLDS between two of the best teams in the National League. However, it’s probably just a little tone deaf to the reader. There is enough time to break down what worked and didn’t work in this series. What at-bats were good or bad. What Rob Thomson decisions worked and didn’t work.
It’s best to save some of that for a different time.
Thank You
I want to thank everyone who has read my content week after week. I’m not sure I’m allowed to put something out like
this but I want to let it ride.
I’ve spent the last three seasons with this amazing team on TheGoodPhight after Ethan Witte selected me among 80+ different candidates. Maybe there were better writers, smarter baseball fans, or whatever but he thought I was the right fit for this team.
The first two years were ok, not great, and I didn’t fully understand who I wanted to be for this site. But season three felt like a significant step forward. I really enjoyed the film pieces and will continue to write those types of articles this offseason. The Notes really hit its stride this year with several pieces that felt great the day they released. Especially last week’s on the NLDS matchup.
Thank you.
Trying to be Positive? Not the best time, I know.
The last two games showed something this group had that should still make you feel confident in their nucleus. After going down 2-0 and heading on the road to Dodgers Stadium, the team fought until the end. The three stars didn’t show up in game four but had their moments prior. Aaron Nola was gutsy through two innings and Ranger Suárez once again had stones in October.
The message Rob Thomson sent to the players felt like the right one and proved he is still the right guy to lead this group for 2026.
There were blown opportunities, especially in the first two games at home. There is a chance this is a completely different series if Harrison Bader is healthy. We’ll never know.
It’s possible none of this matters next season. Kyle Schwarber, JT Realmuto, and Suárez are free agents. They should probably look to make some trades. All of this is to say there is a chance this team will be very different in February. The offseason is going to be slow and painful one way or another.
