The Dallas Cowboys were clearly not satisfied with their offensive tackle situation.
We have known this for a while now, but they shouted it from the rooftops on Saturday evening when they struck a trade to bring in some help. The Cowboys have worked out a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers for Broderick Jones.
You might be wondering what the Cowboys sent Pittsburgh, and Mike McCarthy by
the way, to pull this off. You are not going to like the answer.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Cowboys sent third- and sixth-round picks to the Steelers in the deal. Dallas reportedly receives a fourth in return, too.
This marks two straight drafts in which the Steelers will hold Dallas’ third-round pick, assuming the Jones one is in 2027. They held this last one for George Pickens and would hold this one for Jones. Speaking of, Pittsburgh also holds Dallas’ fifth-round pick in 2027 per the Pickens deal.
The Cowboys do now have a fourth-round pick, by the way. They initially dealt theirs to the Green Bay Packers in the Rashan Gary deal.
Jones was not regarded well by Steelers fans, so this is something that they are celebrating with vigor. The Cowboys needed help at tackle as noted, but did they need help this badly?
